Half-way Mark

Hey there, welcome back!

If you read our last blog post, you know that our mentor left us with a couple of tasks for the week. So far, this is how many I've accomplished:

1. Designed a rim
It may not look perfect, but I did not use outside sources.

2. Sliced the first part of a hand.
While trying to set up the print, the printer was giving me trouble. After levelling the bed twice and unclogging the nozzle, there is still something that doesn't allow it to print.
Here's the Cura file I aim to print.
After the break, Kass came and we figured out that the problem came from the filament being chipped away, not allowing it to feed. After removing the material and breaking off the broken part, the print seems to be going okay.

3. Designing a prosthetic attachment
So, I decided to start out simple and create a cupholder... Not as simple as I thought. The way I want to attach it to the prosthetic is through the slots where the velcro goes, using something like the knuckle pin of the hand and the circular place holder. So, the attachment itself needs to long extrusions that would go in the slot.
Kass noticed that the part that attaches to the hand would be too weak to hold the cup, and that it should be attached to the top of the hand instead of the side, which left less room for the arm to go through.

4. Contacting third parties
In order to spread awareness about Project E-Nable, I contacted the Office of Specialized Services, asking for them to inform amputees about what we offer. Hopefully, we should have a client soon.

In closing, here is an article about the e-Nable conference, with amazing stories from amputees from across the country.
