With Great Filament Comes Great Responsibility

With great fun comes great responsibility. Now that we have our color-changing filament and flexible filament, we have to tune the slicing software to handle its width (1.75). The steps would be:
Open Cura >> Settings >> Printer >> Manage Printers >> Click your printer on window that opens >> Machine Settings >> Change material diameter >> Close

Now it is time to replace the filament in the printer. To do this on the printer, go to Material and click Change. When the nozzle is done heating up, pull the remaining filament from the back of the printer. Our filament is called UV Color-Change, but we treat it the same as PLA, so we enter PLA's settings in the printer. Then we insert the new material and slightly push it through the extruder, and wait for it to come out of the nozzle.
After re-leveling the bed, we start a test print: a little puppy key-chain. The correct settings are:

  • Speed 95%
  • Temperature 210 degrees
  • Buildplate 60 degrees
  • Fan 70%
  • Material flow 160%
